Good Bye MySpace, Good Bye Facebook....Hello Interaction

So I’ve decided after what feels like my whole life involved in these several social networking pages, that my time among them has come to an end. I refuse to twitter, myspace, or facebook from here on out. Our world has become so desensitized and our relationships have become extremely impersonal, and I honestly feel that these websites have induced that tremendously. People no longer call to see how you’re doing, or write e-mails, yet alone a hand-written letter. Now it’s just a text, a bulletin, a blog, a facebook announcement, or a tweet. How impersonal are we now? Do we even care about our hundreds or thousands of “FRIENDS”? Although I do appreciate the ability to interact with individuals that I’ve come across in life and “re-connected” to, I feel that I’ve been on these sites for so long that if I was supposed to connect with long-lost friends, I would have by now. Not only that, but we have become addicted to these sites. Signing on just to find out what others are doing right here, right now. Have our lives become that irrelevant that we get our kicks from tracking (stalking for some) the daily actions of our friends/acquaintances? I have felt myself slowly following and becoming stuck in this culture, and thus falling into this trap, so for this reason, I now choose to exit that world. So from here on out, please feel free to contact me by e-mail: madjuan9@gmail.com or by instant messenger: madjuan9 (Yahoo) or juanmad9 (AIM)….OR if you want to really go crazy and be old school, call me: 714) 206-6158. It’s been fun, but I’m going to try to reconnect with humanity now, not with the world hiding behind a computer screen. I’ll be taking down my MySpace and Facebook page within the next couple of weeks, so to all of my friends, please get back to me with your contact information (phone/e-mail) so that we can keep in touch and have real interaction like real people, not cyber-bots.

I guess the closest I will be to having this cyber-social interaction will be this blog. This is just how I feel at the moment, who knows...maybe in a couple of years it's going to be mandatory to own a Facebook or MySpage page...I wouldn't doubt it, but for now, I'll accept not owning one. Thanks for your time. Cheers.
